International Women's Day Edition: Best Life Advice From Inspiring Women

This International Women’s Day, we celebrate by sharing important life advice from women who inspire us with their courage, wisdom and passion. Read below the words of advice that empower five strong women- Maria Enna-Cocciolone, Assunta Young, Melissa Lek, Rachael Young and Briony Osei to live their best life!

Maria Enna-Cocciolone

For Maria, the co-founder of GINGER&ME, sisterhood is the secret to getting through whatever challenge life may throw. As a professional woman who juggles a full-time job, being a mum and wife as well as a daughter, Maria found that words of encouragement, exchanging of tears and offering time for one another with her circle of sisters was the constant support she needed to face obstacles in life and become the strong woman she is today. Following this life lesson, Maria has co-founded GINGER&ME, a skincare brand dedicated to the sisterhood.

Briony Osei

Briony found herself lost and disheartened when the pandemic took away all her gigs. As a musician, creating music was her source of happiness and passion and she felt as if she lost herself along with her gigs. However, she soon realised that although she cannot control the external factors that has impacted her life, she can take control of the situation she is in. By finding abundance in the smallest things, Briony is striving hard every day to keep chasing her happiness and her creative spark lit.

Assunta Young

Assunta’s most important life advice is to ‘Aim high, work hard and be happy where you land’. Juggling multiple roles as a wife, mother, hands-on grandmother, nurse and carer, Assunta has met her fair share of challenges and understands that life is not perfect and can be unfair at times. However, this important lesson she has learnt allows her to be true to herself and always try and find the positives in life.

Melissa Lek

Melissa’s life turned upside down when she moved abroad to experience the world. Instead of finding herself, she was struck with multiple health issues with no family or friends to turn to for support in a foreign land. The advice that got her through this life-changing experience was ‘life may not always go to plan but it’s how you adapt that can matter most’. Through the most extreme mental and physical hardship, Melissa learnt that adaptability and how she responds to different life challenges is the key to her successful recovery.

Rachael Young

As a proud young woman and artist, Rachael is anything but ordinary. She knows that she was born for higher things and embraces the support of her family to live every day of her life being happy with who she is and not defined by disability. By reaching for the stars and working hard to make every day count, she is pushing boundaries and ensuring that only the sky is the limit to what she can accomplish.
